Attendance Policy

30 Hours of actual class time. State of Vermont requirement.
Participation:

Attendance is not participation.

Come prepared to contribute to discussions from the information covered in
Online assignments.

Be attentive and actively listen.

All students should bring a notebook, pen/pencil, and handouts to class.

Assessment:

1.Current Events 20%: Using links to newspapers and television sites find traffic safety articles and relate them to what we have studied in class. Copy and paste the article and write a response to each article describing the article and what caused the problem and how it could have been avoided.
A minimum of 3 articles should be posted each week. Everyone will present articles to the class at least 3 times during the quarter.

2. Reflective writing 20%: This will be checked by the instructor bi-weekly either by checking your blog or by you turning in a hard copy of your work. Information should be typed, presented neatly, organized chronologically. Your work should demonstrate both creative and critical thinking. Your work should also demonstrate correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. Reflective writing is required for each class during the two-week time frame. You will summarize what was presented and discussed in each class showing that you understood the concepts covered.

3. Formal Sharing 10%: This will be checked anytime you have a report due. The grade will be based on your ability to have your information posted on your blog to be copy and pasted by your peers and/or your ability to give hard copies to peers who do not have a blog. 10 points will be deducted for every day after the assignment is due with a maximum of 10 days.

4. Informal Sharing 10%: This will be assessed by attendance and participation. Each absent whether excused or unexcused will result in 5 points off this grade. Minimum of 3 positive contributions must be made each class. Failure to do this will also result in 5 points off of this grade.

Projects 20%: These will be assigned during the semester. You will be expected to do dynamic research on the Internet and turn in a type 3 writing. The paper will be graded based on FCA’s, which will be given to you at the time of the assignment. Your work should demonstrate both creative and critical thinking. Your work should also demonstrate correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.Projects will be presented to the class and discussed in class. 10 points will be deducted for every day after the assignment is due with a maximum of 10 days.

Quiz’s 20%: Both announced and unannounced.

Grading Scale:

A- Completes all assignments correctly and on time. Attends and actively contributes to all classes. Grade Average: 90-100
B- Completes 80% of all assignments correctly and on time.Actively contributes to the sessions attended. Obtains an 80-89 average . Project must be presented for class discussion.
C- Completes 70% of all assignments correctly and on time. Attends 4 out of 6 F2F classes and 70% of the chats and actively contributes to the sessions attended. Obtains a 70-79 average on the final exam. Final project completed as assigned but is at least 3 pages in length with at least 3 sources. Project must be presented to class for discussion.

A grade of “C” or better is needed to pass the class room component.

Hello Everyone,

1) Graduated License

assignment will be a type 3 write. The following are your FCA's for this assignment:1) For learner's permit describe A) who it affects, B) how long it will affect the teen, C)the conditions of the restrictions, and D) the consequences of the violation.2)For the junior operator license describe A) who it affects, B) how long it will affect the teen, C)the conditions of the restrictions, and D) the consequences of the violation. 3) Use the Graduated License link in the school Wiki. 4) use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Post this assignment in the homework area of your blog. This assignment will be due by 6:00 pm on Sunday, 9/9.

Using the current events links in the class blog find and post 3 articles dealing with traffic safety and do a brief summary of each article and write how the situation could have been eliminated or minimized. Please make a new post section titled " Current Events" and date this post for the week of 9/4-9/9.
